Dr.-Ing. Reinhard Heister

From 2003 until 2006 Reinhard Heister studied Mechanical Engineering at the Dualen Hochschule Baden-Württemberg in association with the company KARL MAYER Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH. Subsequently he worked for three years as a project manager in machine development and was responsible for the development of several serial machines. From 2009 until 2011 he studied Mechanical and Process Engineering at TU Darmstadt. His master's thesis dealt with the optimization of human-machine interface between the air traffic controller and the air traffic control system at the Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH.

Since October 2011 he is a research assistant at the Department of Computer Integrated Design (Datenverarbeitung in der Konstruktion) and is responsible for the BMWF-project COMMANDD. In the winter semester 2011/2012 Mr. Heister is in charge of the lecture Virtual Product Development A (ViP A).

Mr. Heister has leaved our department in 2016.

In the winter semesters 2011 and 2012 Mr. Heister supervised the master's lecture “Virtual Product Development A”.

Im Zeitraum von 2012 – 2014 betreute Herr Heister insgesamt sechs Mal das Tutorium „Advanced CAx mit CATIA V6“. In the period from 2012 to 2014 Mr. Heister supervised the tutorial “Advanced CAx with CATIA V6” for a total of six times.

Biomedical engineering

From March 2012 to February 2015 Mr. Heister was project manager in the collaborative research project COMMANDD (computer-aided design and manufacture of dental products). The COMMANDD project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and supervised by the project management agency PTKA in Karlsruhe. The project dealt with the process chain of dental technology and focused on hybrid manufacturing technology, process chain validation and dental data management. During his work on the project Mr. Heister developed the FDDM system (Federative dental data management).

Another focus of the research is the development of innovative human-machine interfaces for medical technology.

Further research activities

Besides the medical research Mr. Heister also had other projects and activities in cooperation with the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, with the international agricultural equipment company CLAAS KGaA mbH and with :em engineering methods AG.
