IUNO – National reference project on IT security in industry 4.0
The fourth industrial revolution (Industrie 4.0) is distinguished by growing networking capabilities and intelligence of machines, products, services and data. This results in new business models and value networks, but also involves various risks, e.g. hacker attacks, data theft or manipulation. The aim of effective security methods is to protect Industrie 4.0 and its associated values. Therefore the project was requested, approved and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Within this project 14 industrial enterprises and seven research institutions develop and explore new extensive security methods and tools. IUNO
The objective of the IUNO project is to identify and develop new appropriate security practices for Industrie 4.0. Within the overall project, the group of DiK researchers consider the specific frame conditions and requirements of Industrie 4.0 and develop models and specifications for an integrated and comprehensive security by design approach. Furthermore, the scientific work focuses on secure devices and identities as well as methods for the effective protection against manipulation, knowledge theft and piracy. The goal is to support the industrial partners by providing scientific methods, so that approved viable safety concepts can be implemented in terms of two demonstrators, ”Technology Data Marketplace“ and ”Remote Maintenance", which actually and sustainably accomplish the security requirements of the industry.
Industrie 4.0 Maturity Index
The project aims at developing a multi-dimensional maturity model for producing companies to evaluate their Industrie 4.0 acquirements and discover potentials of enhancing Industrie 4.0 solutions. By providing a valid assessment methodology, this project enables companies to both judge the status quo and create individual roadmaps to future growth. The entire value chain from engineering, production, logistic to service and sales is considered as well as aspects like resources, culture and IT security. „Industrie 4.0 Maturity Index“
The project is funded by the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). The project team comprises six university and research departments and several consulting and validation partners from industry.
MYTHOS – Multi-material hybrid technology for additive manufacturing in dental process chains
The BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research) funded project MYTHOS focusses on the development of an automated process for additive manufacturing of multi-colored dentures. So far, a large part of the production process of aesthetic dentures is still carried out by hand. Several veneering layers are applied manually on top of a structure milled out of a high-strength material so that a color impression is created that suits the patient’s natural dentition. Additive manufacturing offers great potential for improvement in terms of production time, cost and precision. DiK’s responsibilities within MYTHOS are the design of computer-compatible data structures and algorithms as well as the development of the digital process chain for the automated process.
